Nets $12,189 from Subaru Christmas fund drive

Rimrock Subaru of Billings recently announced the results of its “Share The Love” winter campaign to support Billings’ own Family Service, Inc. Subaru of America will be presenting a check for $12,189 to Family Service, Inc. staff and directors at the Billings Depot, April 15, 2015. Family Service, Inc. works to prevent homelessness and alleviate poverty in Yellowstone County. They assist struggling families with basic needs, including food, clothing, rent and utilities. They also offer special services – such as emergency prescription assistance and vision care assistance – that help vulnerable children, adults and senior citizens.

The money was raised during Subaru of America’s 7th annual “Share the Love” event, during which each customer who bought or leased a new Subaru had the opportunity to designate a $250 donation from Subaru to charity. Five national charities were selected by Subaru of America, and individual Subaru retailers were allowed to add a sixth charity from their local community.

Rimrock Subaru partnered with Family Service, Inc., a decision clearly embraced by the dealership’s customer base. More than a third of Rimrock Subaru’s customers chose to designate Subaru’s donation to Family Service, Inc., resulting in a fundraising success that exceeded expectations.

“This was the second year that Subaru asked dealers to choose a hometown charity option, and we were excited to again partner with Family Service Inc.,” said Ernie Lee, Owner/Partner of Rimrock Subaru. “Family Service Inc. changes lives, and helps stop the cycle of homelessness in our community. Our customers appreciate that, and they had no problem helping to support the Family Service mission.”

Subaru of America officials have said they expect to donate over $15 million to charities in 2015 as part of the 2014 “Share the Love” campaign, which has provided nearly 50 million in donations over the last seven years.

When people first think of “Subaru” they often think of the high-quality cars we know and love as coming from Japan. However, Subaru does have production plants in the United States, as well.

Already, the Legacy and Outback, as well as a few other models, are made in their Lafayette, Indiana plant. But really awesome news came a few days ago when Subaru of America announced that, soon, the Subaru Impreza will also be made in the USA. This addition is a $400 million investment for Subaru, and will add nearly 1,000 US jobs to the Lafayette plant.

This expansion of Lafayette will increase its annual production capacity by roughly 100,000 vehicles, to a total of approximately 400,000 vehicles.

2014 Subaru Forester is an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK

Subaru remains the only manufacturer with IIHS Top Safety Picks for all models for the fourth consecutive year (2010-2013)

MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 6, 2013 /CNW/ – Subaru Canada, Inc. is pleased to announce that the completely redesigned 2014 Forester has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) top award for good performance in its moderate overlap frontal, side, rollover and rear impact evaluations. This distinction has helped Subaru become the only automaker to earn a 2013 TOP SAFETY PICK for every model it builds.

“Safety is always top of mind as we aim to inspire confidence and peace of mind on every road in all conditions,” said Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. “Subaru’s ring-shaped reinforcement frame has been proven in more than a decade of use. This design provides excellent protection with the structure increasing cabin rigidity and absorbing impact energy from any direction.”

TOP SAFETY PICK recognizes vehicles that, in IIHS testing, do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rear, and now rollover crashes based on ‘good’ ratings in each category. The IIHS ranks in terms of Good, Acceptable, Marginal and Poor, with ‘good’ as the top rank possible in Institute tests. Winners also must have electronic stability control.

“For four consecutive years, Subaru is the only automotive manufacturer with the distinction of earning IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK awards for every model it builds,” said Institute president Adrian Lund. “Subaru deserves praise for making safety a top priority.”

About IIHS To qualify for a TOP SAFETY PICK, vehicles must have good ratings for occupant protection in the moderate overlap frontal, side impact, rollover and rear tests. IIHS rates vehicles as good, acceptable, marginal or poor based on performance. The Institute’s frontal crashworthiness evaluations are based on results of a 40 mph moderate overlap frontal crash. Side evaluations are based on performance in a crash test in which the side of a vehicle is struck by a barrier moving at 31 mph. The barrier represents the front end of a pickup or SUV. Rear crash protection is rated according to a two-step procedure. Starting points for the ratings are measurements of head restraint geometry – the height of a restraint and its horizontal distance behind the back of an average-size man. In the roof strength test, a metal plate is pushed against one side of a roof at a displacement rate of 0.2 inch per second. To earn a good rating for rollover protection, the roof must withstand a force of four times the vehicle’s weight before reaching five inches of crush. This is called a strength-to-weight ratio.

CHERRY HILL, N.J., Oct. 30, 2012 — /PRNewswire/ — Subaru of America, Inc. has reported it has broken its previous yearly sales record with more than two months of the year still remaining.

Sales for 2012 have now surpassed the previous sales record of 266,989 vehicles which was set in 2011 and mark the company’s fifth year of sales growth and fourth successive sales record.

Sales in 2012 have been driven by the all-new 36mpg Impreza, and the addition of the all-new XV Crosstrek small CUV as well as the BRZ sports car.

“Subaru is celebrating yet another record,” said Thomas J. Doll, executive vice president and COO, Subaru of America, Inc.  “Our brand is poised to exceed sales of 320,000 vehicles for 2012 and with a full year of sales for the XV Crosstrek and other new models on the way, we expect 2013 to be yet another record year for Subaru.”

“Our continued growth is built on strong products and outstanding retailers providing a good customer experience,” said Bill Cyphers, senior vice president of sales, Subaru of America, Inc.  “and given consumer demand for our new products, we expect to finish the year strongly.”

The Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team is the factory backed rally team for Subaru of America, Inc., managed by Subaru technical partner Vermont SportsCar. The all-star team consists of BMX legend and professional Rally athlete Dave Mirra; Professional skateboarder Bucky Lasek; and three-time European RallyCross champion Sverre Isachsen. The team will be competing in the six-round Global RallyCross Championship (GRC) series. The GRC combines the energy of motorsport with the attitude of action sport, and features production-based, compact cars highly modified for competition to produce more than 600 horsepower. With all-wheel drive, GRC cars can turn on a dime and accelerate from zero to 60 mph in two seconds! The race tracks, usually around one mile long, are made up of asphalt and dirt and include a crowd-thrilling, crossover 70-foot gap jump along with tight turns and snap directional changes.
